I've been using it since 2017, I ride my bike all year round. Of course, the smartphone is only in the holder when the weather is good, i.e. not in rain, frost or snow - but the holder is always on the bike.
It holds the smartphone very reliably, but is a bit awkward to use - both when opening and closing.
In particular, opening it became a bit tricky after about 1 year, then boldly used some WD40 and fixed the problem.
Closing with the ratchet mechanism is surprisingly noisy.
If there is no smartphone in the holder, it rattles a bit.
The ball joint is very practical because I have handlebars that are bent several times and still want to look straight at the smartphone - but the angle is limited.

This universal mount is ideal for me. I use it on my motorcycle, where my cell phone is still held securely even at 200 km/h. Only the ball joint loosens a bit when moving. Here I would have wished that it stayed tight, even if you moved and turned it from time to time. After moving, you have to tighten the ball joint again from time to time, but this works very easily and without tools. In general, I also think it's good that the holder works completely without tools.
I also had concerns about opening and closing. I didn't know such a mechanism before, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it. I can hold my iPhone 7 Plus with the case on without stretching the rubber bands over the corners. It cannot come loose either, as it is removed with an extra lever and is not loosened again using the wheel. If you operate the lever with your left hand and at the same time press the mobile phone to a corner with your right hand, the claws open again so far that you can simply put the mobile phone back in the next time and tighten it with the wheel.

I was able to attach the bracket to my city bike without any problems.
What I didn't like, however, is the screw that secures the mount - anyone can unscrew it by hand as they walk by. So I replaced this screw with a screw (Allen key) and lock nut to protect against theft. You now need a tool to steal the bracket and the lock nut means that it can no longer be shaken loose. Since I had to improvise this backup variant myself, I deduct a star in the rating.
Any normal-sized cell phone is easy to clamp and also fits tightly.
So I would like to make a purchase recommendation.

I use Myrouteapp or komoot to navigate my bike.
After many experiments with moderate partial success, I decided on this holder.
Advantages:
1. the smartphone is firmly clamped in, no matter which routes you cycle
2. No disturbing (additional) reflection from a mobile phone pocket

We bought the part twice (my husband and I) after about 2 months (we ride our bikes a lot) it hardly works anymore. I'm almost unable to turn the wheel (to tighten it properly) - it's very binding. With my husband, the switch for the fast closing of the holder is already broken. In itself a great idea - but something like that should last a few years.
